Meet our new UK Country Manager, Alison

Alison Bosher, our UK Country Manager, on what she wishes farmers knew about crop protection.

Life Scientific

What’s one thing you wish farmers knew about the crop protection industry? How much passion and care is placed on bringing needed chemistry to market as quickly and cost-effectively as possible while working through the politics.

What motivated you to start at LS? I love the agile and creative thinking mixed with business professionalism, yet a fun-loving, down-to-earth team. I’ve never been made to feel so welcome!

What’s one innovation you’d like to see in agriculture in the next decade? Given my history in the startup world, I would love to see more robotic technology enter the wider European agricultural sphere.

What food or drink gets you through working across time zones? Depends on the time of day; it’s a finely tuned process. Tea first thing (of course). Freshly brewed coffee mid-morning. Tea in the afternoon; can’t control my Britishness! G&T as we roll into sundowner timing.

What book has had the biggest impact on your career or mindset? Time to Think by Nancy Kline.

Rather cheesy, and I’d avoided it for ages, but I’ve just listened to Mel Robbins’ Let Them, and the mindset is a good reminder for all parts of life.

Podcast – Brené Brown (love her! A must for leadership).

I’m also a bit of a Simon Sinek groupie.

If you weren’t in ag, what would you be doing? Oh, I wanted to be a forensic pathologist growing up! The thought of a biochemistry degree put me off.

What’s your most-used phrase in meetings? Normally, ‘Who’s brought the cake?’

On a serious note, I dislike people interrupting when somebody is thinking aloud and working thoughts through; it’s an important process. So I’m normally trying to manage the room to let everybody have a say.
